April 2014: Dealing with difference: collective discussion with Dublin’s independent spaces

This event was part of our ongoing militant research project on Dublin’s independent spaces and featured the particpation of Barry Semple (Seomra Spraoi), Seoidin O’Sullivan (South Circular Rd. Community Garden), Sam Bishop (Granby Park) and the Exchange Dublin collective.

March 2014: Rethinking the Smart City –  a primer

This talk was organised in conjunction with the Dublin Art and Technology Association with the support of the Programmable Cities project (National Institute of Regional and Spatial Analysis, NUIM), and featured Adam Greenfield (author of Against the Smart City), Rachel O’Dwyer, Aphra Kerr and Jim White.

 

August 2013: Dublin’s Independent Spaces: where to from here?

This session brought together participants in Dublin’s independent spaces to talk about the practices, politics and problems of creating space in Dublin.

Eoin O’Mahony and Stephen Rigney gave a great talk on their research/mapping project of derelict sites in Dublin, raising issues around the tension between the lived experience of the urban and its abstraction under property speculation and top-down planning. The event took place in the White Rabbit Space at Loom Studios.

May 2012: Struggles in common – a one day encounter

This event, which we organised with the support of GRADCAM, brought together activist researchers from Ireland, England, the US and Spain to discuss practices and politics of commoning. Peter Linebaugh, who participated in the event, talks about it in this short text on his recent visit to Europe.
